the struggle

decided to cross-post this image from olivia’s blog. there was some interesting post-processing done here.

after brightening the colors and exposure in LR I brought it over to PS for some skin smoothing (she has some baby acne) using a blur layer, layer mask, and a soft brush.

also, the sunlight coming through the window was bouncing off of that blue square and made her face look very purple. again, i used the same technique as before but this time with a color adjustment (reduction in cyan level) and painted on the new skin color using a low opacity. there is still some blue on the left side but it looks natural that way. this is how purple the skin was before:

this photograph taught me how important monitor calibration is. i can drag this window over to my other monitor and the color vibrance and saturation are completely different.
