vanishing point

*EDIT* ok. decided that the sky was just too bright and used the gradient tool is cs3 to correct.

this photograph was taken at great risk to myself and company car. on the other side of the tracks is the parallel road i was on only moments before. i literally sped past the train and jumped the tracks! cool, eh? an antique grayscale conversion and creative crop transformed this missed train engine shot into a viable piece. think i’ll do more with trains later.

Is the white sky caused by the conversion or your crop? Also would it look any good to take the picture b&w then restore the CSX logo to color? Make sense?

the sky was blown out in the original photograph but there was some small detail. i tried fixing it but not much could be done without making it look unnatural.

my first thought was to remove the csx logo altogether but i like your idea. when i have more time to setup the tripod i’ll probably go for a longer exposure so the train becomes transparent.
